Art books I have purchased till now with reviews

I always like reading books since I was a child. I still love to. Right now I have four art books and I will share my reviews about them and I will also share which books I would like to purchase next. I hope it will help you if you would want to purchase any art books or thinking to purchase any of these.

I am a self-taught watercolor artist and it plays a major role in what type of books I purchase to improve my art. I also like to try out new mediums so you will see pencil drawing art books as well.

Some prefer watching tutorial videos over reading books which is absolutely fine. I like to do both. Sometimes I don’t like to spend more time on screen so I prefer reading books.

The art books I have

Color choices by Stephen Quiller

Internationally renowned artist and best-selling author Stephen Quiller shows readers how to discover their own personal "color sense" in Color Choices, a book that offers readers a fresh perspective on perfecting their own color styles.

With the help of his own "Quiller Wheel," a special foldout wheel featuring 68 precisely placed colors, the author shows artists how they can develop their own unique color blends. First, Quiller demonstrates how to use the wheel to interpret color relationships and mix colors more clearly. Then he explains, step by step, how to develop five structured color schemes, apply underlays and overlays, and use color in striking, unusual ways. This book will bring out every artist's unique sense of color whether he or she works in oil, watercolor, acrylics, gouache, or casein.

Why I purchased this book?

My color choices were not so good at the time I purchased this book. I am still improving on that. I was also into painting landscapes so I thought this is the perfect book I am looking for.

I really enjoyed learning from this book. This book has lots of paintings done by Quiller and he also explained basic painting topics in this book which makes this book more amazing. I would like to study this book again deeply to understand color harmony and color choices.

If you want to work on your color skills specifically for landscape painting, you should definitely purchase this book. It is a very good investment.
